Pengye Song is a young pianist, harpsichordist, and chamber musician currently based in the UK, where she completed her doctoral studies.
A graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, she holds a Master of Music degree and an Advanced Artist Diploma (equivalent to a doctorate in performance). During her time in the UK, she has won several international awards and given solo and chamber recitals at notable British venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, as well as in church settings. She has also appeared at major international festivals, including the Salzburg International Music Festival.
These days, her focus lies in the world of historical keyboards, with a particular interest in period performance practice from the Baroque through to the Romantic era. Through her own lens, she explores improvisation and reworking in Mozart’s piano music, offering a personal take on the expressive possibilities that lie within the scores.
